About the role:

Reporting to the Director Quality the Regional Clinical Educator is responsible for the overall education platform for clinical staff and oversees the education and training for clinical staff including onboarding, annual competencies, and leading clinical practice within the care and services. This mandate is achieved through exemplary leadership and working collaboratively with a skilled team of professional leaders.

Regional Clinical Educator will apply their knowledge of geriatric clients, care environments, and adult learning techniques to promote a positive learning culture and advance professional practice. They will also act as a role model to staff promoting leadership and learning- supporting the cultures of Quality Care.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads the overall education and clinical training platform for the organization to support best practice and staff competencies for the organization to provide consistent high-quality resident-focused care and service excellence.
  • Evaluates education and training programs for all clinical programs to ensure information is evidence based and is meeting the needs of residents to whom staff are providing care and service too.
  • Collaborates with General Managers and Directors of Care for all communities to ensure the mandatory education is occurring, and where it is not occurring develops strategies to address community education completion variance.
  • Collaborates with the Regional Directors Operations, General Managers, Directors of Care, and Human Resources Team to develop strategies and plans for ongoing learning priorities and introduction of new competencies where required.
  • Supports the implementation of standardized policies and procedures across the organization.
  • Acts as a resource for the teams regarding problem solving of clinical issues, reviewing and revising educational needs based on clinical need, and supports creative methods to deliver educational and competency based learning solutions.
  • Oversees and leads the Therapeutic Recreation Program to promote and deliver person centered innovative therapeutic recreation programs across the organization.
  • Collaborates with the clinical teams to evaluate education and competency based training for effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Acts as the organization lead for educational institutions for the placement and evaluation of clinical practicums for the organization. Collaborates with educational institution leads on clinical placement and provides feedback on the effectiveness of clinical placements to educational institutions
  • Leads the InterRAI education and competency, and supports the education on interpretation of clinical indicators.
  • Travel required within BC and Alberta as required.
  • Create and promotes a positive learning culture that is founded on a growth mindset.
  • Be an involved collaborative team player, developing and maintaining professional relationships that support and strengthen our WCSHM culture and purpose.
Qualifications:
  • 10 years' recent related experience, including two years as a clinical educator or clinical instructor within a certified education institution. (Residential Care experience preferred)
  • Current registration as a RN with the BCCNM and ACN (preferred).
  • Experience and understanding in Adult Education
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing. Masters Degree in Education or Nursing (preferred).
  • Valid driver's license.
  • A sound understanding of current and future Geriatric clinical and health care issues and the potential impact on staff education and clinical practice.

  • Computer skills, including the ability to use MS Office and other related computer technology.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform the work.
