Director of Programs and Services (DPS) and Client Services Team Lead
Location:
Northern Alberta (servicing areas including but not limited to Grande Prairie, Peace River, High Level, and Fort McMurray regions; including Indigenous communities such as Little Red River Cree Nation, Bigstone Cree Nation, Dene Tha' First Nation, and Fort McKay First Nation)
The Client Services Coordinator (CSC) supports individuals living with spinal cord injuries and other physical disabilities, with a focus on culturally safe, holistic, and accessible service delivery for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous clients.
The CSC will work with clients transitioning from injury to independent community living and providing navigational support for topics including health, housing, education, employment, and overall well-being. This role contributes to the ongoing development of the organization's Indigenous Strategy and will work in collaboration with the Indigenous CSC supporting Calgary and Southern Alberta to ensure a coordinated, province-wide approach to Indigenous engagement and services.

Services and Support:
Build trust-based relationships using culturally safe, respectful, and trauma-informed practices.
Support Indigenous and non-Indigenous clients by identifying needs and goals and developing service plans.
Provide rehabilitation navigation and support across the lifespan, from acute injury to aging.
Facilitate client access to services in areas such as housing, transportation, employment, recreation, education, equipment, and health (including traditional healing when requested).
Connect clients with community-based supports, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and Indigenous programs where appropriate.
Advocate for equitable access to services while respecting community, cultural, and individual client contexts.
Collaborate with peers, including the South Indigenous/non indigenous Client Service Coordinator, to provide a cohesive provincial client support model.
Maintain regular follow-up to ensure continuity and cultural relevance of care.
Foster and support peer events and connections to build a sense of community and shared lived experience.
Administrative and Other Responsibilities:
Assist with grant applications and reporting as appropriate.
Work in collaboration with all staff to produce reports for use by the DPS.
Keep information about clients confidential and ensure consents are properly maintained.
Ensure client connections are well documented and recorded using the approved database.
Participate in research projects, community networking and working groups.

Qualifications:
Education:
Degree or diploma in Indigenous studies, social work, or a related disability studies services field.
Experience:
3-5 years of experience working with persons who have physical disabilities and good working knowledge of the rehabilitation field.
Social Workers must be eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers.
Experience working with indigenous communities and case management in a fast-paced environment with evidence of increasing responsibilities considered an asset.
Skills and Abilities:
Academic-level written and oral communications skills.
Strong understanding of the social determinants of health affecting Indigenous Peoples in Alberta.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience with CRM or Database.
Familiarity of Indigenous protocol.
Mental Requirements:
Knowledge and understanding of the impact of spinal cord injury on individuals, their support network, and the community.
Able to self-regulate as responsibilities may elevate personal trauma and experiences due to lived experience.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven history of collaboration and effective relationship building.

Physical Requirements:
Able to work remotely (sitting or standing) for 8 hours
Available to assist with occasional special events which may include longer hours (up to 10 hours)
Ability to travel locally and regionally to meet clients or participate in community engagement.

Working Conditions:
Able to work in a typical office setting at a desk with computer equipment.
Has an ergonomically correct remote office set up at home.
Can work independently and travel throughout the community using public transportation or private vehicle.
Can visit hospitals, care facilities and meeting clients at locations outside of the office setting.
Additional Requirements:
Valid Driver's License and Access to a personal vehicle. Travel within Northern Alberta is required.
Comfortable working in hospitals, care facilities, homes, and community settings.
Strong collaboration is expected with the Indigenous Programs position based in southern Alberta, with a province-wide focus on Indigenous engagement and inclusion.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $30.00-$34.00 per hour
