Internship Position: Regional Adaptation Coordinator

Location: St. John's, NL

Coordinator will join two others on the

Climate-Ready NL

team, supporting project partners in:

Liaising with participating communities Researching regional climate trends, extreme weather events and impacts Compiling plain-language climate data profiles and summaries of community members' observations of change Assisting in the planning and delivery of community risks and hazards mapping events Producing baseline risks and hazards maps, site visit photo logs and related documentation Developing municipal emergency plan reviews and/or nature-based adaptation assessments Other project data collection and management, as required

Position Duration: October 2025 - December 31, 2026 with possibility of extension

Rate of pay: $22.00/hr for 35 hours per week

Qualifications:

Strong work ethic, attention to detail and excellent organizational skills Superior verbal and written communications skills, fluency in English Ability to manage team priorities and balance workload Comfortable working in public settings and outdoors Knowledge of climate change, public relations and local government Events organizing and facilitation experience Experience creating social media and other promotional material Computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and virtual meeting software Post-secondary degree in geography, geoscience or a terrestrial-related field is considered an asset

Additional Qualifications:

Candidates must be willing to travel within the province. Flexible hours, including evening and weekend work, will be required. Access to a vehicle with proper insurance is considered an asset but is not necessary for the position. Travel will be reimbursed when required for work purposes.
