Summary of responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager of Chronic Disease Management. The outpatient Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) operates within the scope of practice established by the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario and the Regulated Health Professions Act of Ontario, embodying a culture of caregiver inclusion in the patient's plan of care. The RRT will work in the outpatient setting, supporting the community by performing a variety of cardiorespiratory diagnostic tests, including PFTs, Methacholine Challenges, ECGs, Nuclear Medicine Stress Tests, Exercise Stress Tests, IEA tests, and 6-minute walk tests.
Requirements of the job
  • Holds current Certificate of Registration from the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
  • Preferred minimum of 3 years' experience as an RRT
  • Preferred C.S.R.T and R.T.S.O membership
  • Holds current certifications in BCLS and ACLS
  • Maintains and enhances knowledge through attendance and participation in continuing education programs, seminars, or other related activities
  • Demonstrates active effectiveness as a team collaborator and as a supportive, responsible individual
  • Demonstrates recent experience relevant to the area of practice
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work well with multiple interruptions
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills, critical thinking, a positive attitude, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the position, including lifting over 60 lbs. and continuously standing and/or walking
  • Demonstrates regular, punctual attendance
  • Shows a commitment to patient safety
  • Possesses knowledge and expertise related to respiratory care to provide high-quality client care
  • Achieves functional proficiency in both official languages (oral and written in English; oral in French - and testing completed)
