Duties


----------


Participate in the operation and maintenance of a wide range of building systems with a focus on refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. Monitor and adjust control systems for optimal performance. Respond to equipment emergencies and provide troubleshooting support to identify and remedy problems. Carry out and assist in the development of the preventive and legislated maintenance program. Perform inspection and repair for a variety of equipment within various building trade disciplines although primarily those related to the trade of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill one (1) term position. A pool of (fully or partially) qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), various linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative), language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC,), various security requirements, various conditions of employment and for various locations.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION

Possess the following Technical Qualification Certificates (TQ) valid in the Province of Ontario:


1. Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic (Trade Code 313A)

2. Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) certificate card


EXPERIENCE

Experience operating and maintaining equipment in large facilities--such as commercial, industrial, educational, or scientific research settings--with systems including mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and/or automation/control.

Experience operating and/or maintaining refrigeration equipment/systems, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment/systems, or related controls

Experience troubleshooting and resolving issues with refrigeration and/or air conditioning systems by diagnosing problems and performing repairs, replacements, upgrades, modifications, adjustments, and/or calibrations to restore proper operation.

Experience in the safe operation and/or repair of a variety of shop tools.


KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of the typical components of a refrigeration system

Knowledge of Federal Halocarbon Regulations, 2022

Knowledge to perform preventative maintenance in a safe manner

This is a mandatory in-person position; 5 (five) days a week, Monday to Friday

Must wear and utilize Personalized Protective Equipment in compliance with safety regulations

Must be able to participate in 24/7/365 emergency Facility standby coverage
