Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Refinery Learning and Development Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling training activities for the refinery. The Learning and Development Coordinator will leverage their technical skills and team-building capabilities to develop, prepare, manage, coordinate, and engage the refinery workforce and in all aspects of training. The Learning and Development Coordinator will be a member of the Global Technical Training Center of Excellence (CoE).Duties and Responsibilities
As a member of the site management team, the Refinery Learning and Development Coordinator is responsible for the following:

  • Utilize established Continuous Colleague Development (CCD) 2.0 Tools, resources, templates to conduct Focused Training Initiatives and World Class Training Initiatives
  • Coordinate with plant leadership to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities tied to plant losses and define Key Performance Indicators (KPI\'s) and training measures of success
  • Responsible for management support to facilitate safe reliable efficient refinery operations as directed by the Plant Manager and Refinery Superintendent
  • Conduct Train-the-Trainer sessions as required
  • Coach and lead refinery colleagues through the CCD process utilizing the PE Model; Assessment, Planning, Modeling, Replication, and Sustainment
  • Provide coaching, escalation and accountability for CCD success through Review & Response meetings with plant leadership
  • Ensure progress is reported, and support escalated to stakeholders and sponsors monthly
  • Mentor and develop refinery employees to establish an inspiring and high-performance culture
  • Support safe, reliable performance of duties by ensuring that the refinery follows site, corporate, quality and regulatory standards related to operating procedures and Management of Change (MoC)
  • Responsible for the refinery new hire training and mentoring program
  • Establish relationships and collaborate with Trainers, subject matter experts (SMEs), procedure reviewers, training reviewers, engineers, managers/supervisors, and EHS staff to support the site\'s training activities
  • Maintain, update and audit all training documents and procedures as required by changes, MOCs, and periodic reviews
  • Enhance skills to include adult learning methodologies and deliver one-on-one coaching and instruction, in-the-field training, casual small group training, and formal stand-up instruction
  • Other management support functions as determined by the Plant Manager to assist in maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations
  • Serve as a backup for the refinery Formulator and Shipping Supervisor
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated self-starter and able to self-monitor with minimal oversight
  • Results-driven to provide support to achieve the goals established by leadership
  • The ability to provide motivation and demonstrate leadership qualities to all plant personnel
  • Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Computer skills and capability with Microsoft Products
  • Experience with Alchemy and/or Coursemill Learning Management System is a plus
  • Applicant must be able to accomplish results by working in all types of climates, both inside and out, including extreme hot and cold temperatures, noisy environments, heights, and dusty environments, all of which require the use of Personal Protective Equipment
  • Ability to climb stairs, access ladders, catwalks, and elevated working platforms, lifting, sitting and standing for long periods, working at heights, bending and kneeling to understand and monitor the process
Education or Work Experience
  • Minimum high school diploma
  • 3+ years of experience supporting manufacturing operations
  • 1+ years of experience leading Continuous Colleague Development and/or training activities
  • 1+ years of experience in Continuous Improvement
  • Experience that would be beneficial, but not required: experience in oilseed extraction and processing, grain handling, and oil refining
