As summer student with our Refinery Emergency Services team, you will assist our Fire Chief, Emergency Response (ER) Trainer, and ER Shift Specialists in ensuring the performance and readiness of our emergency response equipment. You will learn about the fire protection equipment used at our Refinery, Canaport Mispec, and East Saint John Terminals, as well as equipment carried on our emergency response vehicles.
The team responds to fires and emergencies at our Saint John industrial sites--focusing on fire suppression, hazard mitigation, planning & inspections, and safety training. They operate from the Emergency Response building in close proximity to our Refinery, in east Saint John.
Responsibilities:Equipment checks throughout refinery facilities
Testing of onsite fire hose equipment
Assisting and taking part in emergency response exercises and drills
Audits of fire hydrants, fire box contents, extinguishers, etc.
Assist in reviews and building of pre-plans and testing building evacuation documents.
Potential to participate in the Pre-Start-up safety Review (PSSR) process and Management of Change (MOC) process on our sites.

Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Ability to take direction but also be a creative problem solver
Ability to bend, climb, stoop, kneel, crawl etc., and able to lift up to 20lbs
Ability to wear full PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as required by safety standards
Knowledge of MS Office and Excel
Knowledge of Google Earth Pro would be an asset but not required
Comfortable with heights and confined spaces
Valid Canadian driver's license
Your Experience:Must have completed at least 1 year of post- secondary education and be returning to school in the fall.
Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program
