Growing residential / small commercial masonry restoration business looking to hire lead mason.
Scope of Work
-Company vehicle willingly provided to qualified individual.
We have focused on 2 major components of our work portfolio
Masonry Restoration - Including Vehicle Impact and Leak Remediation
On the masonry restoration portion of our business, the two largest contributors to our scope or work are vehicle impact, and leak remediation. For instance, 2 of our largest customers send projects involving removing damaged masonry veneers from vehicle impact or otherwise, and replacing using best matching material. Our leak remediation service usually involves full removal of masonry veneers, and replacement using best matching material.
Fireplace Installation / Renovation / Chimney Repair
-Equally weighted to our masonry restoration business - we install and repair fireplaces under a separate name, East Coast Stoves and Fireplaces.
-Under this name - we install wood stoves, manufactured chimneys, and fireplaces, as well as sweeping and maintaining existing fireplaces. Qualified candidates may be eligible for company sponsored WETT certification training.
-This portion of our business generally keeps core crew members busy through out winter months.
-Due to service appointment requirements, company van is likely provided to WETT certified applicants
Job Requirements
-Ability to show up on time on a daily basis with a willingness and desire to produce a high quality product safely.
-Red seal masonry certification with minimum 10 years experience.
-Valid NS drivers license, preferably with insurable driving record.
-Experience or willingness to learn installing all sorts of masonry products - brick, block, full bed stone, veneer stone.
-Understanding or willingness to learn about specific OH&S requirements for the purpose of filling out applicable documents for a crew of 5 or less, including ; daily scaffold inspection, hazards assessments, fall protection safety plans, tool box meetings. Training will be provided for otherwise qualified individuals.
Job Requirements
-Take home company vehicles available - HD trucks and work vans.
-Ability to direct crew and delegate non proprietary or essential tasks to entry level crew members.
-Ability to arrive either on site or at scaffold yard for no later than 7am without use of public transit.
-Delivering material to working crews including scaffolding using company vehicle.
-Assisting in assembling scaffolding as required by nature of project.
-Demolish of existing masonry structures /Delivery to dump facility as required by nature of project.
-Rebuilding masonry veneers to match surrounding existing products,
-Given that most of our projects are estimated blind from behind a brick wall, the ability to foresee future issues once projects have begun is considered a huge asset.
Wages / Benefits
For an ideal foreman, who is able to install masonry units at a professional standard
-Company sponsored WETT training.
-Wages -30-40$/hr plus benefits
