Summary
'We are seeking a skilled Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in Kamloops. This vital role involves maintaining and repairing heavy equipment used in industrial construction and crane operations, contributing directly to our mission of safety and excellence. The successful candidate will bring extensive mechanical expertise and a passion for quality work.'
The heavy-duty equipment mechanic will repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul and maintain mobile heavy-duty equipment used in construction, transportation, forestry, mining, oil and gas, material handling, landscaping/land clearing, and similar activities.
The Mechanic performs routine maintenance procedures on all equipment, identifies complex problems, and reviews related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions primarily with cranes and other heavy equipment. Essential duties and responsibilities include:
Study job site and task at hand to understand overall work procedures.
Determine the tools and equipment needed to perform task.
Perform routine maintenance on equipment
Dismantles and reassembles machines as well as equipment. Using hoist, cranes, truck lifts, hand tools and power tools.
Adjust equipment and repair/replace bad parts, pieces or systems using hand and power tools.
Observes mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
Service attachments, such as hoists, lifting hooks, blades, ploughs, winches and side booms
Troubleshoots and determines cause of failures that occur in all conventional cranes including electronic, hydraulic and mechanical failures.
Troubleshoot and repair jib cranes, hoists and, overhead cranes.
May wire, perform electrical installations and disconnect and connect machine tools and other machinery.
May perform work on switchgears, motor relays, gearboxes and perform point to point wiring.
May troubleshoot electrical circuits to include a/c, d/c circuitry & radio-controllers
May be required to perform basic arc welding for the purposes of repair.
Initiates purchase requisitions for parts orders for repairs.
Communicates with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality and other shop personnel as it relates to the job.
Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly
Within the scope of the job requirements, will be required to adhere and comply with provincial and federal law, the Company ISO Quality Program and procedures, Company policies and Safety?and Environmental Regulations.
Perform maintenance on the hydraulic pumps and filter systems.
Maintain, organize, control, inventory supplies, tools, and equipment.
Use computer diagnostic and other testing equipment to diagnose faults or malfunctions
Test repaired equipment for proper performance and make sure that work meets manufacturer specifications.
Attach components and adjust new equipment systems for optimization
Overhaul engines and work on power shift transmissions, fuel injection, hydraulics or electronics
Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems this may include trailers, truck chassis, frame, cab, body, engine and drivetrain, air brakes, steering, and fuel, hydraulic, electrical,?and electronic systems using other hand tools/equipment.
Support policies and procedures regarding health and safety programs
Write service reports.
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge of site safety rules and regulations
Journeyman, or apprentice Heavy Duty/Commercial transport mechanic
Class 1 driver's license is an asset.
Valid drivers license
Canadian citizen
Welding experience is an asset
Basic computer skills
Must have own tools, specialty tools and large tools will be provided

Pay: $110,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
