Position Overview:
We are expanding our Northwest Territories operations and will be opening a permanent office in Yellowknife in spring 2019. In order to facilitate this expansion, we are looking to hire an electrician to undertake the electrical aspects of our residential and commercial solar installations. This role would involve working directly with the installation teams to install solar systems of various sizes throughout the Yellowknife area.
This position will require the applicant to relocate to Yellowknife for the summer season however, accommodations will be provided.
Job Duties:
The chosen applicant will be trained to perform the following tasks:
Obtain electrical permits in our company name, liaise with the electrical inspectors responsible for the jurisdiction in which the work is being conducted, and apply for final inspection of all work upon completion of each permitted project;
Be responsible for conducting all the electrical work including the installation of the inverters, AC disconnects, breakers, electrical cable, bonding, batteries, and any other electrical components required to install solar systems in compliance with the current Canadian Electrical Code (CEC);
Work in collaboration with the installation teams to install solar photovoltaic systems at various worksites in the Yellowknife area;
Mentor and train an electrical apprentice employed by us.
The Employee will be responsible for ensuring that the apprentice works in a safe manner in keeping with the Employer\xe2\x80\x99s safety standards and training;
Review electrical drawings and schematics with management prior to applying for permits;
Trouble shoot malfunctioning grid tied and off grid renewable energy systems to determine the problem and correct the issue.
Upgrade residential and electrical services to allow for interconnection of battery back up systems and/or ensure CEC compliance;
Commissioning residential and commercial solar systems including; establishing internet connections for online monitoring, verifying proper system performance, walking the client through their system, and quality control checks.
Qualifications/Expertise Required:
Must be a certified Red Seal electrician with a class B ticket;
Residential and small commercial electrical experience is required;
Previous experience working in live panels is required;
Must be willing to work at heights \xe2\x80\x93 we will provide Fall Arrest Training if the applicant does not already have a ticket;
Demonstrate excellent people/social skills \xe2\x80\x93 the chosen applicant will be representing company when conducting service calls for existing clients;
Demonstrated ability to work independently with the ability adjust work schedules to meet multiple demands and pressures without direct supervision, while maintaining a consistently high level of service;
Demonstrated clear, thorough, and timely oral and written communications using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques \xe2\x80\x93 the chosen applicant will be routinely working with internal team members from the Whitehorse office in a remote capacity;
Experience in successfully negotiating solutions to complex problems;
Class 5 (or above) valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license;
*Previous solar experience considered an asset but not a requirement*
