About the position
The Recycling Service Coordinator leads and provides operational support for the various recycling programs with respect to collection services (collection sites, collection events, large volume direct pick-up services), including, but not limited to recruiting, on-boarding, training, set-up, inspection and general liaison to ensure compliance, operational effectiveness and quality customer service.
Responsibilities:
Collection Services Recruitment
Identify gaps in service, with reference to meeting accessibility commitments, targets and goals.
Research and contact potential businesses/organizations, local governments and indigenous communities to determine suitability and interest in partnering with Product Care as a collection site, collection event or direct pick-up service
Responsible for finding replacement collection sites and events in case of collection site closures.
Assess and make recommendations to management, including the feasibility and viability, the capital cost and funding for transportation and equipment.
Promote the Product Care programs through presentations and networking opportunities at industry conferences and events as requested, including, but not limited to presentations focusing on the return-to-retail program and potential collectors.
Leading the recruitment and onboarding of return-to-retail collection services, including but not limited to:
Completion of the necessary paperwork, registration etc.
Managing insurance and lease issues
Coordination of supplies to new collection sites
Coordination of logistics and communications
Routine follow up to ensure service quality and relationship building
Administration
Develop standard operating procedures to support collection site/events recruitment and onboarding of new collection sites, collection events and direct pick-up services.
Develop best practices to support collection sites, collection events and direct pick-up service.
Lead the development of marketing materials to support recruitment functions.
Assist with the completion of compliance and all necessary paperwork required for collection site set-up.
Identify transport options, contacting carriers for rates and availability, complete cost analysis, negotiate rates, set up and train the new carriers and hubs (consolidation centers).
Lead the onboarding new collection sites, including, but not limited to operational efficiency, training, and site-specific collection systems development and processes.
Cultivate and build relationships with collection partners, with an emphasis on retailers.
Ensure quality service and customer service.
Answer questions related to the program(s).
Plan and budget collection site inspections to meet inspection schedule requirements.
Evaluate collection site performance through the establishment of KPIs and report as well as the communication of site successes for marketing purposes.
Administer collection site contracts, renewals, terminations and update collection site database as required.
Track and analyze service issues and barriers to participation and recommend possible solutions.
Determine ways to build a more robust and effective collection network that meets accessibility requirements in each province and program.
Approval of invoices for program services related to execution of the duties for this position.
Administrative support to operations as required.
Collection Site Inspections
Complete checklist and assessment of each collection site and follow up with collection sites on the finding of the site inspection, any corrective actions required.
Manage tracking and repository for collection site inspection checklist and assessments.
Create and administer collection site self-audits and follow-up on corrective actions as needed for any issues identified, to ensure compliance with Product Care's standards and procedures.
Visit BC collection sites as per policy and direction of the Operations Manager.
Identify, track and resolve issues raised by collection site and collection events hosts.
Coordinate with appropriate departments within Product Care to resolve issues raised by collection sites, collection event hosts, and organizations utilizing direct pick-up services.
Visit gap collection areas as directed to fill collection site gaps, as needed.
What you bring
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, experience, and qualifications:
Post-secondary education in administration or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 2 years in an operations/logistics role, or similar high-paced role.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Access and a working knowledge of databases.
Clear and concise English language abilities, both written and verbal and ability to persuade.
Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on relationship building and quality customer service abilities.
Analytical thinking with excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Takes initiative, strong work ethic, can execute and gets things done.
Ability to multi-task.
Understanding collection system network, logistics and supply chain best practices would be an asset.
Ability and flexibility to travel and possess a valid Class 5 driver's license.
