Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Access and Inclusion, the Recruitment Coordinator for the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) is responsible for coordinating the marketing of undergraduate programs at Queen's University to prospective students and other stakeholders from the GTA and beyond, with a particular focus on outreach to students who identify as Black, Racialized and/or First Generation. More specifically, this will involve creating and delivering presentations about Queen's University to varied audiences and advising on matters such as admission policies and requirements, program details, university life, student resources and support, and financial assistance. The position will also require conducting research on and interpreting recruitment trends based on data analysis and the Undergraduate Strategic Enrolment Report.




This position is based in the Greater Toronto Area.






KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



- Prepare and deliver targeted presentations that are consistent with the communication strategy of Queen's University and the Undergraduate Admission and Recruitment office.


- Establish and cultivate relationships with key contacts at community organizations and secondary schools within the GTA.


- Foster and maintain a network of external contacts to support recruitment strategies.


- Maintain a strong working knowledge of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) theories and frameworks to inform practice and decision-making.


- Conduct research, develop strategies and establish goals for marketing undergraduate programs to prospective students. Develop measurement criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of marketing plans and propose changes for the future.


- Identify target markets based on meeting strategic enrolment objectives and within the context of Undergraduate Admission and Recruitment's enrolment strategy.


- Develop specific marketing strategies and tactics that will ultimately persuade qualified students to apply for admission to Queen's.


- Compile and analyze relevant market data to identify emerging trends and new opportunities.


- Prepare detailed reports on market trends and make recommendations to Management in order to increase effectiveness.


- Develop, manage, and execute a schedule for recruitment activities, and oversee all logistics.


- Plan and oversee special events, including oversight of itinerary, to promote Queen's University to prospective students and other stakeholders.


- Participate in secondary school and community-based recruitment activities and represent Queen's University at special events, on and off campus, as well as through virtual outreach.


- Maintain and monitor social media channels to aid prospective student recruitment.


- Provide application counselling, and specifically information about the First-Generation Admission Pathway, to prospective students, parents, guidance counsellors and other stakeholders.


- Compile and maintain feedback from students partaking in First-Generation Admission Pathway programming.


- Proactively report to Management regarding trends in the prospective student market.


- Assist with the scheduling of training activities and the preparation of training materials.


- Other duties as required in support of the Undergraduate Admission and Recruitment department.




REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:




- A university undergraduate degree (recent Queen's graduate preferred) combined with previous relevant experience.


- Prior experience working with Black, Racialized, and/or First generation students considered a strong asset.


- Relevant experience and knowledge of OSAP and OUAC application process.


- Experience delivering presentations to audiences of varying sizes.


- Familiarity with university life and activities and knowledge of university policies and priorities.


- Experience with web content development, data collection and manipulation, and generating reports and statistical data


- Experience advising prospective students and parents


- Valid Province of Ontario Class G driver's license required (note: G1 and G2 are not acceptable).


- Satisfactory Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening required.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interaction with a diverse range of stakeholders internal and external to the department.


- Excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills as well as strong intercultural awareness.


- Demonstrated ability in public speaking.


- Ability to effectively market the benefits of a Queen's University education.


- Excellent time management, attention to detail and organizational skills.


- Ability to work effectively without supervision and under pressure during extended periods away from Kingston.


- Experience working with software applications such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Connect, Drupal and PeopleSoft or equivalents.


- Comfortable driving in busy urban areas.


- Ability to relate to secondary school applicants, specifically those who identify as Black, Racialized and/or First Generation.


- Work well under pressure and responds effectively to changing priorities. Ability to manage multiple projects to meet tight deadlines


- Analytical, interpretative, and problem solving skills. Ability to work with information (both qualitative and quantitative) to draw conclusions about recruiting efforts.




DECISION MAKING:




- Prioritize work and time and decide most important tasks among several to meet deadlines.


- Decide when to refer issues to Management


- Determine the best method for analyzing data in order to identify trends.


- Based on information and direction from Management, interpret policy/analyze procedures and make recommendations or amendments as required.


- Investigate and recommend new initiatives to increase enrolment of students from the GTA who identify as Black, Racialized and/or First Generation.


- Determine how to respond to challenging questions from secondary school officials, potential students and parents, alumni and other stakeholders.
