POSITION SUMMARY

Commissionaires Victoria, the Islands and Yukon (CVIY) Division is Vancouver Island\xe2\x80\x99s largest security services company, with approximately 850 employees. The Recruiting Officer reports directly to the Director of Human Resources & Admin. This position is responsible for developing, implementing and as required, initiating change in the division\'s recruiting activities and strategy. The Recruiting Officer supervises the Recruiting and Onboarding Coordinator\xe2\x80\x99s activities and together, will be responsible for recruiting and filling open roles within the Division. An ability to effectively work with senior divisional staff in developing the recruiting plan is a must, as is the ability to rapidly adapt the plan to changing circumstances.

Hours: Monday to Friday 0800 to 1600 - excluding stats

(May be required to work outside these hours to meet operational needs)

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Efficiently and effectively fill open positions.
  • Work with CVIY\xe2\x80\x99s Recruiting and Onboarding Coordinator to attract, source and interview potential applicants.
  • Develop a pool of qualified candidates in advance of need.
  • Research and recommend new sources of active and passive candidate recruiting.
  • Networks with security industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups and leverages employee referrals.
  • Coordinate and implement third party recruiting initiatives and collaboration with community partners.
  • Collaborate with operations staff to establish strategy and profiles of right fit candidates for client sites.
  • Provide recommendations and analysis to executive to improve recruiting and retention.
  • Post openings with internet sources, social media, and professional organizations.
  • Research creative ways to reach untapped markets through innovative thinking and marketing.
  • Coordinate campus recruiting initiatives.
  • Attend career fairs and events for recruiting and company needs.
  • Maintain pertinent applicants and interview data with the ATS software.
  • Solve any queries potential new employees might have about the company.
  • Manage retention rates by setting clear expectations and hiring under tailored parameters.
  • Ensure the effectiveness and integrity of the recruiting system and its outcomes by monitoring and evaluation the program and implementing modifications as needed.
  • Be the main point of contact and applicant interviewer for on-line and walk-in inquiries for new hires.
  • Support HR\'s employee orientation/on-boarding program that welcomes new employees to the division.
  • Responsible for enrolling new hires and initiating the onboarding process and following up with candidates for missing information.
  • Participate in selection panels interviews when appropriate.
  • Manage the divisions social media accounts (Linked-in, Facebook and Instagram).
  • Oversee the divisions electronic communication platform, Whale Tales.
  • Ability to review data and make recommendations to continuously improve the time to recruit and the experience of the candidates.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources & Admin.
ESSENTIAL AND RATED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION
  • Post secondary degree/diploma and/or a minimum of two years experience in recruiting/hiring;
  • Experience and knowledge in the security industry considered an asset.
  • Previous experience using an Applicant Tracking System (we use JazzHR) considered an asset.
  • Must be comfortable with using technology and proficient with Microsoft Office productivity suite.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to collaborate with both Hiring Managers and the Human Resources Team.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong team building, people skills, and professional deportment to represent CVIY in public.
  • Ability and desire to embrace and manage change.Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization of tasks, solid organization and time management skills
