Responsibilities
--------------------
Assists with activities related to the recruitment of Police Officers and assists with parts of the recruitment process for civilian applicants. This includes: ensuring the required checks are conducted for police and civilian applicants, creating and maintaining recruitment information in various databases and files; answering all enquiries from the public and potential recruits with information about recruitment procedures and conditions of employment; assembling information packages for the various stages of the recruitment process; assists with the coordination of swearing in ceremonies; scheduling interviews and various tests and testing to be taken throughout the recruitment process; and typing various forms of correspondence.
Duties:
Provides assistance to the Recruiting Section in the recruitment of sworn and as applicable civilian staff by:
+ Ensuring the required checks are conducted for police and civilian applicants. These checks may include: querying various law enforcement databases and indices, credit checks and any other checks deemed necessary by the Support Services Inspector. Finds records related to applicant on law enforcement databases, reviews records and identifies any items which require further examination to recruiting team.
+ Creates and maintains a variety of records and files including recruiting applications and documents in various databases and paper files, prepares regular and ad hoc reports as requested.
+ Responding to enquiries received by mail, email and in person pertaining to recruitment procedures;
+ Preparing and forwarding application and information packages to applicants;
+ Co-ordinating and scheduling testing for police applicants (Exam, Police Officers Physical Abilities Test (POPAT), Interviews, Polygraph, Assessment Centre and Medical);
+ Assists in preparations for swearing-in ceremonies, including booking rooms, coordinating decoration, and printing and distributing all necessary documents and information packages. Provides police applicants with general information on recruitment procedures, conditions of employment and the Transit Police in general, explains the status of applications, job requirements, rates of pay and conditions of work. Refers questions of a sensitive nature to the HR Advisor or members of the Recruiting section.
Provides general clerical support including typing of a variety of forms, letters and correspondence.
Completes the weekly time entry for all Recruiting personnel.
Provides occasional relief to Payroll Clerk and Police Support Clerk reception, as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned, such being items of a minor nature that do not affect the value of the job.
Qualifications

EDUCATION:
Requires Grade 12 graduation including successful completion of courses in office procedures, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
EXPERIENCE:
Requires one (1) year previous experience in a Human Resources and/or recruitment department, which includes experience using Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS). A further period of up to six (6) months in the job to become familiar with department's recruitment procedures and procedures of the job, including procedures for using police databases.
Working in a Police related environment an asset.

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.
