Recreational Activities Technician Replacement

Job Description

Champlain College Lennoxville is seeking the services of a Recreational Activities Technician to work on a part-time (25 hours per week) replacement contract, in the Student Services department.
Reporting to the Dean of Student Services, the incumbent will contribute to the development and organization of various social, cultural and recreational activities, on and off Campus as a member of the Champlain Lennoxville Student Services team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Participate in the planning and implementation of a wide variety of Campus activities to encourage student development and community building.
2. Organize a variety of special projects including orientation (fall and winter), student volunteer groups and clubs, leadership development initiatives and the student involvement program.
3. Guide and coach the students in planning, organizing, facilitating and evaluating intramural or intercollegiate activities through regular leadership training and ongoing mentoring.
4. Provide guidance and assist the elected representatives of the Champlain Student Association in governing the student body.
5. Disseminate information intended for students and develop appropriate material to promote activities on Campus.
6. Participate in and make recommendations, to the Campus, in the choice of equipment/materials for student activities.
7. Assure the proper set-up, take-down and use of equipment at Campus activities, ensuring safety of participants and care of physical installations.
8. Participate in recruitment and coordinate training and work of student volunteers and student ambassadors on Campus.
9. Contribute to the initiatives and activities of the Students Services, as needed.
10. Participate and supports activities in Residence.
11. Perform all other related duties.
Requirements :
Education
Must have a diploma of college studies (D.E.C.) in an appropriate speciality or a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.
Competencies
Must be able communicate fluently in English, both oral and written.
Must possess a working knowledge of French, both oral and written.
Must possess good interpersonal skills.
Must possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to track statistics, produce reports and create documents.
The candidates will be required to complete English and French language tests.
