A
Recreation Worker at Viola's Place Society
will primarily engage with individuals experiencing homelessness. The Recreation Worker will be responsible for developing and implementing safe therapeutic groups and one:one activities aimed at improving the quality of life for clients. These activities and workshops will be designed to offer opportunities for individuals to reactivate and sustain their abilities, ultimately enhancing their overall well-being--encompassing physical, mental, social, and spiritual health--while being guided by the social determinants of health.

Activities:
Research, design and develop workshops with a holistic approach to enhance overall well-being
Plan, coordinate and facilitate workshops and activities
Provide group and one:one activities
Post programs and activities daily
Collaborate with case workers to develop individual care plans
Maintain the continuity of care by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs
Transport program participants to community activities
Commit to fostering unity and inclusion among clients and the community
Foster partnerships with local businesses and community organizations to support the development of programs and initiatives
Evaluate program outcomes and make revisions as needed
Perform all other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Must be over the age of 19
Completion of High School or equivalent
Completion of Community Recreation, Human Services, or other related post-secondary education
Experience working with adults who are facing mental health challenges or addiction is an asset.
Strong knowledge in PowerPoint and other technologies is an asset
Must have a current Class 5 Nova Scotia Driver's License with a reliable vehicle
A Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check are required
