For over 50 years, Vanier Children's Mental Wellness' mission has been to improve the lives of infants, children, youth, and their families through the provision of mental health services and support based on clinical excellence, collaboration, partnerships, and system leadership. Appointed by the Ontario Government as "Lead Agency for Child/Youth Mental Health (CYMH) System Management" in London-Middlesex (2014), Vanier is also accountable for community-wide Child/Youth Mental Health System Planning (MCYS: "Moving on Mental Health").

Education/Training/Experience:




Recreation Therapy Degree or will consider a degree in a related field (ex. Kinesiology Degree with COKO registration) supplemented with a Post Graduate Certificate in Recreation Therapy. Experience working with youth (0-18 years of age). Knowledge of developmentally and age-appropriate therapeutic interventions. Registration with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (R/TRO or R/TRO DIP). Valid Driver's license in good standing. Valid CPR/First Aid and AED Certification. Demonstrated knowledge of recovery philosophy and trauma informed care. Recent experience with evidence-based assessment, treatment, intervention and best practice.



Job Duties:




The Recreation Therapist will practice in accordance with the standards of practice set out by Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO) as well as in accordance with the Mission, Vision, Values and philosophy of Vanier. Conduct Therapeutic Recreation (TR) assessment through a combination of techniques such as assessment tools, interviews, observations, file review and information from relevant sources and communicate results with clients, team members and key support networks. Develop and implement appropriate client TR intervention plans based on assessment results in collaboration with relevant stakeholders including identifiable measurable outcomes. Develop program service descriptions and outcome measures for evaluation develop and deliver recovery-based TR Programming based upon a continuum model of care which takes into consideration strengths and abilities of each service recipient. Support client/patient transition to achieve maximum independence while working with client/family/ friends/ community partners to restore client's natural leisure support system. Drive agency vehicles as required. Additional duties as required.



Salary




$29.84 - $38.20 per hour.


Hours of work:




35-hour work week.



Schedule:




Monday to Friday, days and evenings required.
