Job Description

Adult Cognitive Wellness Program are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mobile Recreation Therapist to provide engaging and therapeutic activities for seniors in the early stages of dementia. This role involves delivering person-centered care and creating a supportive and stimulating environment to enhance the quality of life for our senior residents.

Key Responsibilities:



1. Activity Planning:

- Develop and implement a diverse range of recreational activities tailored to the specific needs and interests of seniors with early-stage dementia.

- Plan activities that promote cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being.

2. Individual and Group Sessions:

- Conduct one-on-one sessions with clients to assess their preferences and create personalized activity plans.

- Organize group sessions to encourage social interaction and a sense of community.

3. Cognitive Stimulation:

- Incorporate memory-enhancing and brain-stimulating activities, such as puzzles, reminiscence therapy, and creative arts.

- Utilize therapeutic techniques to improve cognitive function and memory retention.

4. Physical Activities:

- Lead light physical exercises and movement sessions to maintain residents' mobility and overall health.

- Ensure activities are safe and suitable for seniors with early-stage dementia.

5. Emotional Support:

- Provide emotional support and a listening ear to clients, creating a sense of trust and comfort.

6. Documentation:

- Maintain accurate records of clients' progress, behavior, and engagement in activities.

- Share observations and recommendations with the care team to enhance individualized care plans.

7. Communication:

- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and staff to ensure a holistic approach to client care.

- Keep families informed about their loved one's progress and participation in activities.

Qualifications:



- Recreation Therapy diploma.

- Certification in Therapeutic Recreation or a relevant field (if applicable).

- Experience working with seniors, especially those with early-stage dementia.

- Knowledge of dementia-related challenges and therapeutic interventions.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for improving the lives of seniors.
