Your Opportunity:This position oversees and provide recreation therapy services to Hythe Continuing Care, Spirit River Long Term Care and the new Pleasantview Facility. Currently the position is based in Spirit River. The town offers many advantages of living in a quieter area serving many farming and industry services. At the same time, it is only 45 minutes away from Grande Prairie with a variety of outdoor and indoor recreation opportunities and a multitude of dining and shopping opportunities. The therapist will oversee and provide comprehensive service for clients developing and implementing evidence based, client-centered practice based on therapeutic recreation standards of practice. This is a dynamic program with a high degree of independence. Each of these sites have a full time therapy assistant to provide implementation of the programming. The successful candidate needs to demonstrate a track record of creativity, initiative, being a self-starter and self-motivated. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.Description:As a Recreation Therapist II, you will take a leadership role in ensuring that the level of therapeutic recreation practice in your clinical area is evidence based, patient-and family-centred and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will provide clinical leadership to ensure safe and efficient care as well as coordinate the assessment, treatment, education and care of the patient (client, resident). You will participate in program development to ensure effective delivery of services, including the development of protocols, forms, education, and quality improvement initiatives. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients\xc2\xbf treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.

Required Qualifications:Completion of bachelor\'s degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration for Professional Membership with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA). Minimum three years\' related clinical experience as a Recreation Therapist.
