If you\'re looking to make the difference in the lives of Albertans and have an impact on the healthcare they receive, the position of a North Zone Specialty Teams (Palliative & Complex care) Recreation Therapist with our team could be for you. As a Specialty Teams Recreation Therapist, you will function as a member of an interdisciplinary consultation team in providing palliative and complex care consultations in acute care, continuing care, home and community care settings to provide specialized assessment and intervention on a consultative and limited direct service basis. You will be responsible for working collaboratively with health care professionals, physician consultants, primary care physicians, patients, and families along the continuum of care to ensure the provision of quality care services that follow evidence-based best practices. This position supports patients in North Zone, with the position location based out of Cold Lake, Alberta. The position location may be negotiable within the North Zone. This position includes virtual work and face to face patient consultations. Travel is required in the North Zone.Description:As a Recreation Therapist II, you will take a leadership role in ensuring that the level of therapeutic recreation practice in your clinical area is evidence based, patient-and family-centred and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will provide clinical leadership to ensure safe and efficient care as well as coordinate the assessment, treatment, education and care of the patient (client, resident). You will participate in program development to ensure effective delivery of services, including the development of protocols, forms, education, and quality improvement initiatives. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients\xc2\xbf treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.

Required Qualifications:Completion of bachelor\'s degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration for Professional Membership with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA). Minimum three years\' related clinical experience as a Recreation Therapist. Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of five (5) years\' Recreation Therapy II experience. Minimum of three (3) years\' experience within the last five (5) years in Palliative Care and/or Home and Community Care. Minimum of one (1) years\' experience within the last five (5) years Continuing Care, Brain Injury, Mental Health, or other relevant clinical area. LEAP and/or palliative care training. Experience with elderly or vulnerable populations, brain injury, addiction and mental health or developmental disability patients. Proven leadership experience. Proven quality and accountability expertise. Competent and comfortable with MS office suite and virtual meeting venues (TEAMs, ZOOM etc.). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Able to work independently in different environments (weather conditions) and must be physically capable of carrying a medical bag of approx. 25-30lbs. Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of Continuing Care service- including delivery options, assessment/placement criteria, and community supports and agencies. Additional preparation in Psychiatry, Mental Health and/or Palliative/end of life care. PIECES, Supportive Pathways, NVCI, capacity assessment or other related education. Previous experience with providing adult education.
