Your Opportunity:The position is based out of Medicine Hat community with 2 shifts at the Brooks Health Centre. Travel to Brooks Health Centre is on work time and paid kilometers or if available an AHS fleet vehicle.Description:As a Recreation Therapist I, you will be working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive services for patients (clients, residents) within your assigned program or service area. You will ensure the level of therapeutic recreation practice is evidence based, patient-and family-centred, and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients\xc2\xbf treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.

Required Qualifications:Completion of bachelor\'s degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA). Additional Required Qualifications:3 years\' experience in a Recreation Therapist position; Long Term Care, Acute Care & community setting. 3 years demonstrated knowledge and competency with therapeutic recreation professional standards of practice, best available evidence/research, assessments, client-centered treatment plans, identifying outcomes, individual and group treatment interventions, evaluation, interdisciplinary collaboration and documentation. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). Alberta Fitness Leadership Certification Association (AFLCA) with a specialty in Fitness for the Older Adult (within 3 months of hire). Dementia Care training and/or certifications (Dementia Practice Guidelines for Recreational Therapy, Montessori Based Therapy). Expressive art and Music Care experience. CPR certification. Valid Heart and Stroke Foundation-Basic Life Support. Health Change Methodology. Valid Class 5 driver\'s license and a reliable vehicle to provide therapy to clients in their home. Demonstration of continuing education. Physically capable of pushing a wheelchairs for an extended period of time and performing patient transfers. Punctual, meticulous and reliable, demonstrates regular attendance. Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold these qualifications. Preferred Qualifications:Health Change Methodology.
