Your Opportunity:
The Recreation Therapist will work on all three units within the facility and will provide comprehensive services for clients within the program or service area in which they work. The Recreation Therapist ensures the level of therapeutic recreation practice in their clinical area is evidence based, patient and family centered and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. The therapist completes assessment, treatment, education and management of the clients and provides clinical support and consultation to the assigned program/service area. This position requires collaboration and communication with the health care team, confidentiality and a high level of professionalism.
Description:
As a Recreation Therapist I, you will be working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive services for patients (clients, residents) within your assigned program or service area. You will ensure the level of therapeutic recreation practice is evidence based, patient-and family-centred, and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients' treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience in service area being recruited for and any related pathologies is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS), Health Care Provider - Level C Basic Life Support (CPR) Class 5 driver's license or non GDL. Valid class 4 driver's license if required to transport patients in AHS vehicle. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training. Safe Food Handling Certificate Alberta Fitness Leadership Certification Association (AFLCA) or equivalency. First Aid Supportive Pathways National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) is an asset.
