Your Opportunity:
Overlooking the scenic Glenmore Reservoir in Southwest Calgary is the Rockyview General Hospital (RGH). RGH is a progressive metropolitan hospital with over 600 inpatient beds and this beautiful facility has never lost its community feel. Our team provides excellent patient and family centered care, in a collaborative, innovative, and supportive workplace. As part of RGH values, we support clinicians to add value and meaning to the workplace and to their profession. We also accept student clinical placements at our site and encourage our clinicians to help develop the next generation of Recreation Therapists. At RGH you will be supported to develop your practice in an interdisciplinary and innovative environment. The caseload will primarily include sub-acute/transition units with a focus on geriatric and cognitively impaired populations but may include all inpatient acute care areas including medical and surgical units. As a member of the Allied Health team, the Recreation Therapist I will be adaptable and open to the continuous changes that occur in an acute care setting. As the environment can be challenging and fast-paced, the successful candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work cohesively in an inter-disciplinary setting and collaborate with therapy assistants and volunteers. You will complete assessments, create intervention plans, develop programs based on best practice, and educate staff on recreation therapy. Additionally, you will be effective in time management and demonstrate professional initiative. You will also be a critical thinker with the ability to work autonomously, demonstrate compassion and empathy, and have a focus on Patient and Family Centred care. Occasional evening coverage and student supervision is expected for all positions on the Recreation Therapy team at RGH.
