A Recreation Therapist utilizes therapeutic intervention comprised of treatment, leisure education, and recreation participation to promote physical, cognitive, emotional, and social functioning of patients. As an integral member of the interdisciplinary team, the primary role of the Recreation Therapist provides assessment and treatment plans regarding leisure opportunities and resources in order to improve functioning and independence and reduce or eliminate the effects of illness or disability which will positively impact on well-being, enhancement or maintenance of personal health and quality of life.
