The City of Corner Brook is currently accepting applications for the temporary Full-Time position of
Recreation Technician.
The Recreation Technician is responsible for the development, coordination, operation, and evaluation of a wide range of social, recreational, leisure, and active and healthy lifestyle opportunities for the citizens and visitors of the City of Corner Brook. As the Recreation Technician you will utilize a variety of community development techniques, including encouraging inter-departmental and inter-agency cooperative relationships and partnerships that will enhance and positively contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of leisure and recreation programs and services.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, serving as a point of contact for inquiries with respect to the implementation or continuation of recreational activities and, as necessary, the booking of City owned recreational and leisure facilities; Assisting the Supervisor of Recreation, Programs & Parks, with recreation program development and implementation; Assisting with the planning and implementation of community special events; Receiving, evaluating, and processing Special Event Applications submitted by organizations, sporting groups, and citizens; Researching and identifying provincial and federal government grant programs as well as other funding opportunities and preparing applications as required or requested by the Supervisor; Assisting with the coordination of promotional and marketing activities related to the Recreation Services Department; Provide motivation and leadership to staff and contribute to building enthusiasm during recreational programs to provide a positive patron experience. Provide clear, concise social media and website updates for the Recreation Services Department through City operated platforms.
The Recreation Technician will possess a university undergraduate degree with a major concentration in recreation and a minimum of two years work experience. Consideration will be given to candidates with a diploma in recreation from a post-secondary college or institute with an equivalent amount of work-related experience.
A current Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check is a requirement of this position along with a valid class 5 driver's license for the province of Newfoundland & Labrador.
