Position Overview:



The Langley Senior Resources Society (LSRS) is an independent, not-for-profit, charitable organization that has been providing social, recreational and educational programs; and food, health and supportive services for adults 50 years of age and older in the City and Township of Langley since 1982. LSRS has over 45 staff, more than 200 volunteers, and 2 primary locations. We own and operate the largest free-standing seniors center in BC and we operate the largest Adult Day Program in Fraser Health. In October 2025, LSRS was named the Greater Langley Chamber Non-Profit of the Year.

The Langley Senior Resources Society currently has 2 full time positions open for Recreation Programmers to join our Adult Day Program.

Summary of Role:



Under the direction of the Manager, or their designate, the Recreation Programmer assists in the planning, implementation and evaluation of recreation programs designed to meet the social, emotional, and physical needs of our clients. This role requires an interest and heart for working with and supporting seniors in our community. Key Duties & Responsibilities



1. Plans, implements, and evaluates recreation programs and assists clients to participate.

2. Recreation Areas - prepares, monitors, and cleans up areas for activities.

3. Maintains activity equipment and keeps all areas clean, tidy, organized, and safe.

4. Checks activity supplies and advises supervisor when needed.

3. Assists with meal serving and clean up.

4. Create and contribute to Client Care Plans, including:

Monthly charting of all assigned clients. Interviews assigned client for reassessment and presents a recreation and leisure report. Daily activity charting, recording client participation and progress. Presents Assessments / Care Plan (6-months to 1-year) for assigned clients at morning meetings. Observing clients and follows procedures for reporting any changes in their overall condition or behaviour.
5. Assists staff in preparation and implementation of daily kitchen and dining areas and activity programs

6. Attends in-service and staff development programs when offered and as required.

7. Delivers exceptional service to our clients, their families, care givers and the LSRS
team by:

8. Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of Adult Day Program standards, policies and procedures, and the Langley Senior Resources Society (LSRS) Employee Handbook, and the Health & Safety Manual.

Additional Job Functions:



Keep up to date on health & safety training using all techniques to provide safety for Clients - asking for assistance from co-workers when needed. Work together as a team and perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Requirements:



Graduate from a recognized Recreation Program or equivalent experience in Adult Day Program or Activity Aide in Long Term Care. Have successfully completed Fraser Health Authority's "Carefit" Program within six (6) months of hire or by the end of the program's next offering. Specific training in dementia care and violence prevention Must be able to speak English competently and understand written and oral instructions. Previous experience in a continuing care environment and/or implementing recreation programs for older adults and adults with physical and/or cognitive limitations. Provide course graduation and completion certificates, as required.

Other Skills/Abilities:



Able to work within a team, continually building team skills. Able to work inside the health and safety guidelines as per procedures and bring concerns to the health & safety committee. Must demonstrate concern and interest in providing care to clients and be able to stimulate clients and help interest them in various programs. Must respect that all information about the client and LSRS (including the ADP) is entirely and strictly confidential. Able to remain patient and calm when under pressure in emergency situations. Must be consistently respectful, trustworthy, friendly, and caring with all clients and co-workers / colleagues Highly organized and can multi-task on priorities and projects. Be reliable and flexible in meeting work commitments Be tactful, responsive and demonstrate good time management Strong oral and written communication skills.

Position:



Full Time Position - 35 hours per week Tuesday to Saturday 8:30 am to 4:00 pm

Requirement:

A complete Criminal Record Vulnerable Sector Check is mandatory.
