We are a Kelowna based non-profit that provides outdoor recreation programs to youth that provide instruction and life skill development through mentorship and play.



We are looking for energetic and passionate Program Leaders to facilitate our outdoor recreation and education programs!

Position Summary:



We are seeking part-time, flexible Program Leads to support our winter programs starting from December 2025 - March 2026. Successful applicants will support our Leaders in Action and Learn to Shred programs this winter. Preferred candidates will have the ability to continue on in our Spring 2026 season and onward.

As a Program Lead on our Everyone Rides program, you will facilitate a variety of bike safety courses to elementary school students (Grades 3 - 6) during school hours. Program Leads may work individually to teach in-class lessons or as part of a small team when teaching outdoor on-bike skills. Successful instructors believe in the multi-faceted benefits of cycling, bring enthusiasm and professionalism, and get joy from being active alongside children.

As a Program Lead on Leaders in Action and Learn to Shred, you will co-facilitate sport-based, and potentially a few classroom-based, sessions to youth aged 12 - 18. Sessions in the winter include snowboarding, rock climbing, and skill development sessions around leadership, life, and employment skills.

The role is part-time (typically 2 - 4 days/week) and the number of shifts may vary from week to week, depending on applicant's availability, school holidays, and programming needs. The snowboarding shifts are long days, 9 - 11 hour shifts, with standard overtime pay provided. Program Leads travel within Kelowna, West Kelowna, and surrounding areas or sport venues (ie. Big White, Beyond the Crux climbing gym) to facilitate program, and can expect some early morning start times as well as late night shifts on snowboarding days.

Enjoy teaching youth (12 - 18), using enthusiasm, professionalism, and patience. Have experience, gear and passion for the sports we teach (snowboarding in particular, rock climbing if of interest) Adapt well to different audiences, locations, coworkers, weather, and unforeseen changes. Appreciate teamwork and can lead or work in a team to accomplish a common goal. Are organized and on time.

Bonus points if you have:



Led children or youth programs in recreational activities in the past A BC driver's licence (particularly if Class 4 or above) and feel comfortable driving a minivan and bike trailer. Coaching or any other relevant certification

You'll also need:



Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification or equivalency, or a willingness to self-organize and obtain (note: this course is more comprehensive than, and not equivalent to, Emergency First Aid or Occupational First Aid Level 1). Ability to obtain Class 4 Unrestricted license. Clear Criminal Record Check for the vulnerable sector. Legal authorization to work in Canada. English fluency. Ability to lift 50 pounds for work. Reliable access to your own snowboarding gear.

Roles & Responsibilities:



Co-facilitate Elevation Outdoors core programs: Implementing curriculum, building mentorship relationships with youth, and working with a team of staff and volunteers to deliver sport-based programs safely. Respond to unforeseen events: Changes in weather/conditions, evolving group dynamics, injury, or participant behaviour. Transport and set up equipment, as needed Prepare for programs: Take advantage of paid training and prep time to become comfortable and confident with the curriculums as well as the unique details of individual programs. Communicate with all staff: While at programs, instructors are relied upon to ensure everyone involved is on the same page. They also provide key insight into the challenges, successes, and incidents to members of the Elevation Outdoors team.

Schedules & Locations:



Weekly Schedule: Part-time (2-4 days/week) positions are offered. The variability in the number of shifts is dependent on staff availability, school holidays, and programming needs. Schedules for all of winter shifts will be released before the season begins, covering Dec 2025 - March 2026.

Locations: Sport venues such as Beyond the Crux, Big White, etc., and in-class setting.

Mandatory Training Schedule:



On boarding and training will occur during December 2025 and early January 2026.

Shifts will primarily be Tues, Wed, or Thursday afternoon/evenings or Sundays (all day). Hours will fluctuate each week depending on the number of program dates we have in on any given week.

Compensation:

Program Leads start at $24.65/hour with additional compensation available based on relevant certifications and experience.
