About the Role:





The Recreation Program Facilitator works as part of a large multi-disciplinary team that provides treatment for substance use for youth (13-18) in a live in treatment centre. The team works within the strategic objectives of The Bridge Youth & Family Services to ensure the provision of effective and efficient services to our participants.



The Recreation Program Facilitator will provide relationship-based practice, all within a strength-based, trauma-informed approach. This position requires a sound understanding of addictions, mental health and trauma-informed practices. Recreation activities may include hiking, yoga, physical recreation, art, drama, music, meditation, cooking, or volunteering. The successful applicant will be creative and experienced and understand the role of recreation and activities necessary in a treatment plan.



This position requires staff to be acutely aware of the importance of safety for all activities and leadership development with the youth being served. The position requires a flexible schedule that will include weekends and evenings.


Position:

35 hours per week.


Compensation:

$33.12 - 38.62 per hour plus applicable shift premiums


Evening shift premium - additional $3.50 per hour between 1900hr-0700hr Weekend shift premium - additional $2.50 per hour between 2400hr (midnight) Friday - 2400hr (midnight) Sunday Shift premiums compound- additional $6.00 per hour between 1900hr-0700hr from 2400hr (midnight) Friday - 2400hr (midnight) Sunday Facility-Based Role Premium - additional $1.00 per hour for facility-based roles

Indirect Compensation




3 weeks vacation pay which increases with length of service Municipal Pension Plan Enrollment/Portability with 9.31% Pension matching after the 3-month probationary period or upon hire, depending on current Pension enrollment status Extended Health and Dental benefits after the 3 month probationary period 1 paid wellness day per year Paid birthday off Paid sick time which increases with length of service. Qualifications



Education and Experience


Minimum Undergraduate Degree in Social Work, Child & Youth Care, Recreational Therapy or Related Field. 3-5 years' experience working with youth, preferably in a live-in environment. Training and experience providing evidence-based responses/ therapeutic interventions to individuals experiencing alcohol use disorder, substance use disorder or concurrent disorder. Sound understanding of addictions, mental health and trauma informed practice. Experience creating and working within a culturally inclusive environment.

Skills


Strong knowledge and experience in recreational therapy techniques and methodologies. Ability to develop and implement recreation-based activity plans. Excellent communication skills, orally and in writing Ability to build strong, collaborative working relationships with external and internal stakeholders.

Other Requirements


Valid B.C. driver's license and use of a reliable vehicle Employees must declare their vaccination status for COVID-19 and influenza; if vaccinated, documentation must be provided. Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check
