Position Overview


Cabot Cape Breton is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable

Recreation Guide

to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about outdoor activities and hospitality, with a love for sharing the beauty of Cape Breton. The Recreation Guide will assist in delivering memorable, engaging, and safe experiences for our guests by leading outdoor adventures and other resort recreational activities. As part of the recreation team, you will collaborate closely with the Recreation Manager to ensure that all guest activities are executed flawlessly. Key responsibilities include:

Lead Outdoor Activities:

Guide guests on various outdoor experiences, including guided hikes, side by side tours, and other recreational activities, while ensuring safety and enhancing guest enjoyment.

Guest Interaction:

Provide expert insights on the local environment, culture, and history of Cape Breton, enhancing guests' understanding and appreciation of the natural surroundings.

Safety & Compliance:

Ensure that all activities adhere to the highest safety standards, performing safety briefings before each activity and monitoring guests throughout their experience.

Guest Experience:

Engage with guests before, during, and after activities to ensure their satisfaction, address any concerns, and provide personalized recommendations.

Collaborate with the Recreation Team:

Work closely with the Recreation Manager and other team members to plan and implement new activities, ensuring a diverse offering that appeals to all guest preferences.

Maintain Cleanliness & Safety Standards:

Ensure all recreational areas are maintained to the highest safety and operational standards, reporting any issues to the Recreation Manager. Administrative Support: Assist in tracking attendance, guest feedback, and inventory of recreational equipment and supplies.

Event Assistance:

Assist in special events, promotions, and programs that may require additional support or coordination.

Guest Services Support:

Support Bell Team and Front Desk (when available) during peak business hours.


Preferred qualifications and skills:

Valid driver's licence Verbal and written communication skills Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities


Requirements of the role you should be aware of:

Based on the nature of our business and the service we provide to our guests, to work with us, you must consent to a criminal background check as a condition of employment and an additional criminal background check every two years. As a seasonal resort business, you can anticipate a schedule that will involve day, evening, night, and weekend work. To provide the best service to our guests, you should be able to drive a golf cart with luggage and passengers. Long periods of standing waiting for guests to arrive. Occasionally working outdoors in all weather conditions. Lifting and carrying golf clubs and luggage up to 50 lbs with occasional weight of 75 Occasional ascending and descending of stairs and ramps. Occasional kneeling, scooping, pushing, pulling, bending, crouching, crawling and twisting.
