S/he is responsible for assessment planning, implementing, conducting and evaluating programs for assigned residents in The Simkin Centre on both an individual and group basis. S/he performs all duties in accordance with established health and safety regulations/guidelines, policies and procedures.QUALIFICATIONS1. Have completed the Recreation Facilitator for Older Adults Certificate from Red River Community College or2. Have a university degree in Recreation Studies, or its equivalent.SKILLS and EXPERIENCE * Two years previous Therapeutic Recreation programming/facilitating experience in a long term care facility.

  • Ability to work directly with older adults in the area of Therapeutic Recreation programs.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of the Therapeutic Recreation team.
  • Possess good written and oral communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Physical and mental health required to meet the demands of the position.
  • Ability to work co-operatively as a member of the resident care team.
KNOWLEDGE1. Ability to assess residents\xe2\x80\x99 capabilities, limitations, and special needs.2. Ability to operate all equipment in the Therapeutic Recreation department.3. Knowledge of the traditions, customs, and religion in accordance with Judaism is an asset.4. Demonstrated ability in the implementation of programming for individuals with dementia.5. Experience with planning, creating and publishing social media on a variety of platforms.This position is subject to a Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, an Adult Abuse Registry Check and a Child Abuse Registry Check.
