At the Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador, we offer community support to Autistic folks and their families. This support includes community recreation, where Autistic individuals will have an opportunity to attend a community event in environments where they feel supported and included. These events can range from swimming, and bowling, to a movie night, etc.
Our Corner Brook office is looking for a part-time Recreation Coordinator to create, organize and host events and programming.
Responsibilities:
Plan, implement, and attend 1 family event per month
Plan, implement & facilitate 1 weekly recreation program (can be in the realm of creative arts) per quarter. Program should be a minimum of 8 weeks in length. Preference would be a pre-registered program. Drop-in programs would be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Initiate new, and/or maintain existing, community partnerships with external recreation programming/ activities, i.e. - the YMCA, local community centres, sports clubs, libraries, etc.
Attend community partner activities as needed (i.e. - at the start of a new session).
Act as a liaison between ASNL, community partners, and the individuals, and/or their caregivers, who are enrolled in the external programming, as needed.
Work with the Corner Brook Navigator and ASNL Community Resource Center
Knowledge in disability, inclusion and accommodations - with particular knowledge in autism and neurodiversity
Support planning/organizing ASNL's annual summer camp
Complete intake registration for programs and monthly events
General Knowledge of ASNL's other supports/programs
