Assesses, develops and coordinates the delivery of social, recreational programs consistent with the needs, interests and abilities of persons in attendance.
Respects and promotes the dignity and individuality of each person by recognizing them as individuals with unique cultural, spiritual, and psycho-social needs.
Participate at each program session and expedite set up and cleanup of program(s). Attend in home visits that meets the needs of those unable to attend on-site programs Maintaining confidential, accurate client documentation records
Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team
Expertise and experience in cultural sensitivity and diversity
Travel Requirements:
This position will be based out of our Kingston office, you will require access to a reliable vehicle to attend home visits throughout KFLA as needed. You will be compensated mileage while attending home visits.
Physical Demands:
No special physical demands are required beyond the performance of program needs.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Diploma or degree in health care, community recreation or therapeutic recreation studies, social work, gerontology, or other related discipline
Experience working directly with people living with dementia and their care partners
A minimum of two years facilitating groups comprised of diverse individuals with complex needs, preferably in social and or recreational setting
History of working and supporting volunteers and/or student placements within a program environment Strong knowledge of client-centred philosophy
Willingness to participate in professional development and work actively with team members Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:
Excellent communication (verbal and written)
Exceptional interpersonal skills, including shared decision-making and facilitation Ability to prioritize workload and manage competing tasks
Ability to take initiative and be resourceful
Excellent problem-solving and change management skills
Proficiency in technology (e.g.: Microsoft office and case management and care coordination systems) Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team
