Position Overview
The
Recreation Coordinator
will plan, coordinate, and ensure the delivery of a variety of
community-based recreation programs
--with a strong focus on
seasonal camps
(PD Day Camps, March Break Camp, and Summer Camp)--across both Kinbridge and Greenway-Chaplin locations.
This role offers the opportunity to make a lasting community impact by fostering
growth, belonging, and healthy development
through recreation and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, develop, and oversee
a wide range of programs, including
seasonal recreation, arts, sports, wellness, and family activities.
Lead the coordination and daily operations
of PD Day Camps, March Break Camp, and Summer Camp, ensuring high-quality, safe, and inclusive experiences.
Recruit, train, and mentor
staff, volunteers, and youth leaders, fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
Support community outreach and engagement,
building meaningful relationships with residents, families, and local partners.
Collaborate
on community-wide events and initiatives that promote connection and celebrate neighbourhood spirit.
Manage program logistics,
including registration, data collection, scheduling, communication, supplies, and budgeting.
Ensure program excellence
through ongoing evaluation and alignment with
HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development
and best practices in recreation and community programming. Both Kinbridge and Greenway- Chaplin are accredited organization, this role would work alongside the Community Program Manager to ensure accreditation standard are met.
Contribute to strategic planning
and partnership development across both organizations.
Qualifications
Education:
Diploma or Degree in
Recreation & Leisure Services, Community Development, Child & Youth Studies, or a related field
, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
Minimum
2-3 years of experience
in program planning and coordination, preferably in recreation or community-based settings.
Minimum 1 year of leadership experience
supervising staff and volunteers
, particularly youth and young adults.
Demonstrated success in
building community partnerships
and engaging diverse populations.
Certifications:
Standard First Aid & CPR C
(required)
HIGH FIVE - Principles of Healthy Child Development
(required or willingness to obtain)
HIGH FIVE Quest 1 & 2 (asset)
Behaviors Management training and de-escalation is an asset.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong
leadership, communication, organization, and project management
skills.
High level of
initiative, creativity, and flexibility
in a dynamic environment.
Proficiency in
Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Canva, Word, Excel, Publisher)

Ability to build positive relationships within diverse communities, including marginalized and ethno-cultural groups.
Requirements:
Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
(required)
This role requires frequent travel between program sites; candidates must own a reliable operating vehicle and a valid Ontario G driver's license.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Rate:
$23.00 - $25.00/hour (based on experience)
Hours:
35 hours per week
Vacation:
2 weeks paid vacation per year
Holiday Closure:
Paid winter holiday shutdown

Work Schedule
This position requires in-person work and is scheduled
Monday to Friday 10 AM to 6 PM
, with some
evening and weekend shifts
during program or events.

, supporting shared programming and community initiatives.
