People like you!Arena Service Programs at Bill Copeland Sports Centre, Kensington Complex, and Rosemary Brown Recreation Center are looking for individuals with strong customer service skills who are committed to working with children and families to deliver first-class skating opportunities for our community. Our staff team is welcoming applications for Recreation Attendant 1 (Skate Shop & Skate Patrol) positions.This role includes the following duties and responsibilities:\xc2\xb7 Performing a variety of duties related to arena programs and enforcing arena policies\xc2\xb7 Patrolling during public skating sessions and working in the skate shop\xc2\xb7 Maintain a fun and safe environment on the ice while supervising public skating sessions\xc2\xb7 Customer service and building and maintaining relationships\xc2\xb7 Performing basic equipment maintenance/repairs and sharpening skates\xc2\xb7 Educating patrons on properly fitting equipment and maintaining/repairing helmets and skates\xc2\xb7 Performs other related work as requiredThe qualifications for this position include:\xc2\xb7 Minimum of Grade 10 high school education\xc2\xb7 Customer service experience\xc2\xb7 Strong ability to multitask and prioritize work and strong interpersonal communication skills\xc2\xb7 Previous experience skate sharpening is an asset\xc2\xb7 High Five Training and First Aid with CPR-C Certification are assetsOther relevant information:\xc2\xb7 Selected candidates will be required to attend an on-ice assessment session\xc2\xb7 You must provide your own skates and a CSA-approved hockey or snow sports helmet\xc2\xb7 Applicants successful in the on-ice assessment will be considered for an interviewApply online at today! (The City of Burnaby is a part of the Living Wage program; the 2023 living wage is $25.68).Locations: Bill Copeland Sports Centre, Kensington Complex, and Rosemary Brown Recreation Center.Hours of Work: As this is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts can vary depending on operational requirements, and are scheduled on an as needed basis.
