Cambridge Estates is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Recreation Aide to join our team in providing engaging activities and support for residents in our personal care home. The ideal candidate will have a passion for enhancing the quality of life for seniors, fostering an environment of joy and community. As a Recreation Aide, you will play a vital role in implementing recreational programs that cater to the diverse interests and needs of our residents.

Responsibilities

Recreation Aides are Culture Champions! By creating relationships with residents and employees, responding to questions, requests, and challenges in a timely and positive manner, the Recreation Aide builds a culture of resident and staff engagement. Under supervision and direction of the Recreation Coordinator, the Recreation Aide leads programming with a focus on Therapeutic Recreation, being mindful of resident requests and needs. Complete documentation as required. Will provide 1 on 1 recreation opportunities for residents who cannot or will not participate in group activity. Will work together with others and display a positive attitude and team spirit. Comfortable working with older adults and individuals with dementia and other cognitive or medical diagnosis. Is comfortable leading group activities including exercises classes, music, etc. Be able to perform necessary tasks that require lifting, bending, and stooping.

Skills

Post-secondary education in Therapeutic Recreation or related field is an asset. Dementia Passport or equivalent education recommended. Therapeutic Recreation students are welcome Related experience is an asset. Be organized and practice good time management skills. Have strong written and oral communication skills. Be comfortable communicating in one-on-one and large group settings. Must hold a valid First Aid and CPR certificate. Provide a current Certificate of conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check Provide a medical, 2 Step TB screen, and immunization record required for employment.

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Pay: From $18.15 per hour

Expected hours: 15 per week

Evening shift Weekends as needed
