Recreation Aide / Receptionist

. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with seniors in a recreational capacity, while also providing excellent front-desk service and administrative support.

Position Summary



As a

Recreation Aide

, you will support the planning and implementation of engaging recreational programs including games, crafts, music, movies, and wellness activities. You will help ensure residents enjoy a high quality of life by supporting their individual needs and promoting social engagement.
As a

Receptionist

, you will be the first point of contact for visitors and callers, responsible for creating a welcoming environment and providing administrative support to the home.

Key Responsibilities



Recreation Aide Duties:



Assist with planning, setting up, and facilitating recreational activities and events. Encourage resident participation and provide one-on-one support as needed. Set up equipment and materials for programs and ensure areas are cleaned and organized afterward. Contribute to enhancing the social, physical, and emotional well-being of all residents.

Receptionist Duties:



Greet and assist residents, families, and visitors at the front desk. Answer and direct incoming calls using a multi-line phone system. Handle inquiries and relay messages to staff and residents appropriately. Perform clerical tasks including data entry, filing, and document preparation. Assist with office supply inventory and administrative support as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements



Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent education. Experience in a retirement home, long-term care, or healthcare setting is preferred. Recreation diploma, certificate, or coursework in leisure studies is considered an asset. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Word and basic computer applications. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. Valid Driver's License and Class F license preferred (for recreation outings or errands). Must demonstrate patience, empathy, and a resident-centered approach to care.
