Provides supervision and care for youth accessing services through the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) and Youth
Addictions Stabilization Unit (YASU). Supports all aspects of daily living for the youth temporarily residing in the facility in
collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. Maintains awareness of each resident's individual needs and goals and
works with the team to create a culture of safety and hope, with potential of growth for each youth accessing services.
Relates positively and therapeutically through role modeling, engaging, listening, encouraging, coaching and caring while
supporting programming with the goal of safe discharge of youth to home or community.
Functions effectively and provides services in a dynamic and changing environment recognizing diversity in the group
and in the individual. Provides services that are recovery-focused, and culturally safe. Respects and utilizes clients'
strengths and social/cultural resources.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Grade 12 education or equivalent
• Completion of a recognized Health Care Aide Program or Rehabilitation/ Recreation Program required
• Certificate in Child and Youth Care an asset
• Current certification from a recognized Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS), or obtain within three (3)
months of commencing employment
• Applied Suicide Intervention Skills training (to be obtained within three months of commencing employment)
• Mental Health First Aid for Adults who Interact with Youth an asset
• Valid Manitoba Class V driver's license
• Working knowledge of Windows based programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet
• Satisfactory employment record required
• Successful candidate subject to provide security checks in accordance with Security Checks for Employment
