The Position





Lift is seeking a Recovery Navigator. This position works as part of the Overdose Prevention team to directly support clients who express an interest in exploring options for treatment and recovery services. The Recovery Navigator will facilitate connection, provide information and support system navigation. This position helps clients to access a range of recovery pathways and services including support with locating and connecting to services that align with their goals.

Shifts:

Friday thru Tuesday, 7 hours per day, 9am - 4:30pm

Hourly Wage:

$25.05/hr

Key Tasks and Competencies





Connects with clients at the Overdose Prevention Site (OPS) that are expressing interest in a change in their substance use Helps to create and support a non-judgmental environment for clients Engages in supportive conversations with clients about their goals Shares information with clients about available substance use and recovery supports/services Supports and assists clients with navigating and connecting to services that align with their goals Accompanies clients to appointments or services as needed Works collaboratively and problem solves to support clients in connecting with a variety of programs and services Establishes and maintains therapeutic relationships with all clients accessing OPS Support clients by highlighting relevant harm reduction information and liaising with site staff, including informing clients of relevant community services, programs, and organizations as applicable Ensures a safe environment for clients and staff by adhering to violence prevention, infection control, occupational health and safety standards. Performs word processing duties such as basic documentation, data collection, client referrals, etc. As appropriate and in collaboration with other service providers, provide continued engagement and care planning support to clients' recovery plans



Qualifications and Lived Experience/Education and Training




One (1) to three (3) years' recent, related experience in harm reduction working with people who use drugs and/or other marginalized populations or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Certificates in First Aid, Overdose Response, Crisis Intervention and De-escalation, Trauma and Mental Health




Skills and Abilities





Lived experience with substance use is valued and welcome Knowledge of substance use recovery, treatment and harm reduction services Understands the concept of "barriers" to services, and systemic issues that contribute to substance use disorders Understanding of principles of harm reduction and recovery Demonstrated understanding of the confidentiality and sensitivity of the role Ability to use basic digital technologies (smartphones, computer, email) Ability to communicate effectively Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and duties, adjust to new or unexpected events, problem solve and deal effectively with conflict resolution Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with a range of community members, volunteers, health, social and community service providers Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team Ability to work in a space where people are using substances Ability to utilize strategies to reduce barriers to care for clients
