Permanent Full-Time (8-4pm Mon - Fri OR 3-11pm, Sun to Wed)


Pay:

$24.95 per hour

About the Role:





The Recovery Coach works in our Detox program and is responsible for the development and implementation of a case plan that assists the client in increasing their overall stability and resiliency, as well as supporting clients in meeting their short or long-term recovery goals. Some of the responsibilities would include:



Completing daily admissions including monitoring and responding to client needs Completing My Recovery Plan Demonstrate ethically responsible practice with staff and clients alike Daily case notes and record keeping, related to the client's psycho-social state and treatment plan, including assessing their current place in the stages of change model Case Manager and support clients in reaching achievable and realistic goals, making refers to community resources, assisting in the completion of treatment applications and attaining appropriate funding Works in partnership with the nursing team to ensure safe withdrawal management Role model Alpha House's value's and be a positive ambassador when interacting with the public, partners and businesses Providing educational presentations to clients on topics related to health, addictions and homelessness Ensures clients residing in the program are following program requirements Completing daily chores, including cleaning (including bodily fluids) and laundry Participation and attendance at regular team meetings and in program evaluation as needed Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures and ability to reference them from appropriate sources Transporting of clients, in an Agency vehicle, as needed Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (MSDS, OH&S, WHMIS etc.) Assist in the Shelter and other programs as needed



About You




A minimum of a two-year program in Addictions, Social Work or related, from a Public Post-Secondary Educational Institution, or in progress towards one Front line experience working with indigenous and or vulnerable populations and a desire to work with people who may be socially disadvantaged or have mental health challenges An understanding of addictions including withdrawal management, harm reduction, stages of change, trauma informed-care, crisis management, crisis counseling, recovery orientated systems of care and impact of mental health issues. Must be tolerant, non-judgmental with a high degree of compassion and empathy towards the homeless and those struggling with addictions and or mental health Proven crisis management, problem solving skills, rapport-building and advocacy skills Excellent oral and written English communication skills and the ability to facilitate presentations Team Player, strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate showing respect and dignity as well as with discretion and maintain confidentiality of clients High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptable. Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook Have ethically responsible practices with staff and clients alike including a thorough understanding and appreciation of the Protection of Persons in Care Act



Position Requirements




Class 5 (Non GDL) driver license Comfortable driving a large passenger Van Be able to physically assist clients from prone to sitting or standing, and vice versa Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Search, valid within the last six months, that does not contain any results material to the position FOIP Certification "It's your Move" training, or equivalent Patient Lift training
