The Environment division of AtkinsR\xc3\xa9alis is a rapidly growing full-service consulting firm that is committed to technical excellence and exceptional service to our clients. Our growing organization is seeking like-minded individuals to join our team. We have one of the most experienced environmental engineering consulting teams in Canada and we are seeking a Reclamation Specialist to join our team. This position is office/hybrid/or remote work based, focused on projects in Alberta and British Columbia, while providing support across Canada and internationally where needed. The position includes primarily office-based tasks, with field site visits/audits as required.

Your role within the team

  • Provide project management and technical expertise for reclamation programs throughout Western Canada with a primary focus in Alberta and British Columbia managing and supporting field staff completing tasks in soil and surface landscape reclamation (including earthwork subcontractor supervision and guiding quality control), re-vegetation planning and execution, plant identification, vegetation management, Detailed Site Assessment/Schedule B, Reclamation Certificate Application, and soil surveying using the Canadian System of Soil Classification.
  • Actively maintaining client relationships, set and maintain project schedules and budgets, including project financial forecasting; makes decisions with respect to overall technical execution of the project; liaise with technical specialists or other senior project managers to ensure the technical integrity of the project.
  • Interpret analytical data to identify trends, significant changes from historical patterns, deviations, or evidence of environmental stresses, etc. and ability to assess the accuracy and precision of analytical results by applying good practice guidance or established QA/QC methods.
  • Strong ability to communicate results of assessments to stakeholders such as property owners, responsible party, regulators, the public, etc. via a public consultation or other appropriate communication process.
  • Supervision and mentorship of junior professional staff involved in carrying out field programs, ensuring project requirements are communicated and health and safety protocols are adhered to while actively promoting Health and Safety programs and culture.
  • Familiarity with or experience with the following would be considered an asset: unified soil classification system (USCS) and/or contaminated sites and/or mine land reclamation and/or wetland assessment/reclamation.

The ideal candidate
  • Diploma or Degree from a program with relevant subject matter - Agriculture Science, Agrology, Forestry, Biology or Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Geology. Professional designation (P. Ag., P. Bio., or RPF preferred).
  • 5-10 years of environmental consulting experience with 3+ years of Environmental and specifically lease Construction or Reclamation Project Management encompassing project planning, coordinating and project management with strong emphasis in construction/reclamation and ecological restoration. Decommissioning, contaminated site assessment and remediation experience will be considered an asset.
  • Computer Skills - MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, outlook, etc.).
  • Strong written and communication skills in the English language and the ability to work well in a team environment, including working with colleagues in different geographic regions. Self-motivated, high energy, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage time and multiple projects appropriately. Capable of understanding and appropriately applying prescribed safety and technical protocols.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license with a clean driving record.
