Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Recess Assistant to support students during outdoor playtime at our school. The ideal candidate will foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for children, promoting positive social interactions and ensuring their well-being throughout recess. This role is vital in encouraging healthy play, managing behavior, and supporting students' social development.

Responsibilities

Supervise students during outdoor recess to ensure safety and appropriate behavior Facilitate inclusive play activities that promote teamwork and social skills Enforce school rules and behavior management strategies to maintain a positive environment Assist students with conflict resolution and intervene when necessary to prevent bullying or unsafe behavior Provide basic first aid when minor injuries occur and communicate with school staff regarding student health concerns Support students with special needs or behavioral challenges, implementing individualized strategies as directed by teachers or specialists Collaborate with teachers and staff to monitor student progress and address any concerns related to student conduct or well-being Promote a respectful, welcoming atmosphere that encourages all children to participate actively in recess activities

Qualifications

Experience working with children in educational, childcare, or recreational settings preferred Knowledge of behavior management techniques and conflict resolution strategies First aid certification is highly desirable; willingness to obtain certification if not already certified Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents as needed Background in special education or experience supporting students with diverse needs is a plus Ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a dynamic outdoor environment Demonstrated ability to promote safety, inclusivity, and positive social interactions among children
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 per week
