Job Description

Meridian Housing Foundation (MHF), located in the Town of Stony Plain, has been providing safe and affordable housing to seniors for over 60 years. Our mission is to provide and manage independent, supportive and affordable housing for seniors.

The Receptionist is responsible for ensuring smooth and effective operations of the front office of the Administration building at Meridian Housing Foundation. This position provides a high standard of service to visitors, residents, MHF staff and other vendors and contractors, as well as assisting prospective and new clients with their questions about MHF's services. The Receptionist also coordinates rental spaces and provides administrative assistance to the administration team.

Key Duties & Responsibilities



General Duties

Answers and routes incoming call in a timely and professional manner Maintains the front desk and reception area Greets visitors Assists in handling inquiries from residents, guests and public regarding housing and rent supplement information, proactively participates in training Manages the rental of public use spaces Point of contact for staff for office equipment, cell phones and IT issues Ensures supplies such as literature, office supplies, kitchen supplies and others are sufficiently available Provides administrative support Coordinates meetings and functions in collaboration with other team members
Communications

Creates and distributes the monthly employee newsletter Supports the development and maintenance of MHF publications Updates directory listings
Other Duties

Cross-trains for back up of duties with other staff as assigned Ensures kitchen and boardroom have supplies and monitor for tidiness Keeps self and others healthy and safe according to AB OH&S Safety Act, Regulation and Code. Supports the Workplace Health & Safety Management System

Abilities, Skills and Experience



Strong written and verbal communication skills: able to explain and write instructions clearly and effectively Strong computer skills: MS Office (including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet/email skills Highly developed interpersonal skills and strong customer service orientation Deadline and detail-oriented and maintain productivity despite distractions Exceptional time management, organization and prioritization skills Ability to work with and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information Desire to work with seniors

Qualifications



Diploma or equivalent in Business Administration or Office Management, or A minimum of two years' relevant experience working in an administrative and/or receptionist role A clear Police Information check
