The Role:


The Early Childhood Educator is responsible for educating, stimulating, influencing, and caring for the children in their classroom environment. Their principle responsibilities include:

- Maintaining a high-quality environment, assessing, observing, and caring for the individual needs of every child.

- Educating children in accordance to the designated curriculum model for their age group

- Maintaining open and honest lines of communication between parents and team members, and always exemplifying professionalism.

Responsibilities:



The primary responsibility of the Early Childhood Educator (ECE) is to co-ordinate and lead their team in planning and implementing a program that provides for the optimal physical, cognitive, social, and emotional wellbeing of the children in thier care. Takes the responsibility to maintain ratios in own rooms with the designated person in charge as well as monitoring ratios and making adjustments. Works with a team to establish and maintain a safe, warm and caring environment in which a high quality child care program can operate. Plans, implements programs of stimulating activities and developmentally appropriate activities for children, following the Ministry of Education's How does Learning Happen?*
Takes initiative in completing tasks without direction Directs and participates with children in all planned activities. Effectively supervises children on all scheduled school walks, field trips, and other outings. Completes children's Progress Reports as scheduled. Is sensitive to parent's needs and maintains a supportive relationship with them on a professional level while following center policies Staff are required to attend meetings and training sessions during the day.

Qualifications:



An ECE diploma from a recognized Ontario college Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) Up-to-date First Aid and CPR Current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) Up-to-date Immunization and 2 tiered TB test Strengths in organizational skills, communication skills, parent education, and leadership Excellent teamwork skills Confident and flexible professionalism Excellent written and verbal English skills Proven leadership abilities Knowledge of the Ministry of Education's pedagogy "How Does Learning Happen?"*
Excellent organizational and administrative skills Supervisory experience an asset Well-developed problem solving skill Positive and sensitive attitude towards children and staff Flexible and energetic approach to work Physically able to participate with children in the gym and outdoors and set up program equipment Basic ability to use technology (including smart phones, computers, tablets)

Pay: $19.50-$21.00 per hour
