Real Estate Law Clerk - Residential and Private Lending Specialist



We are a boutique legal firm in North York (TTC accessible convenient location).

Are you a seasoned real estate law clerk looking for a challenging role in a dynamic environment? We're seeking a skilled professional to join our SLG team!

About the Role:



We're offering a full-time position for an experienced real estate law clerk specializing in residential transactions and private lending. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in this field.

Key Responsibilities:



1. Transaction Management:



- Independently manage closings from start to finish;

- Conduct title searches;

- Prepare and respond to requisitions;

- Handle lender instructions via FCT or appropriate portals;

2. Documentation and Registration:



- Order title insurance and tax certificates;

- Create transfer and mortgage applications;

- Perform PPSA registrations;

- Execute electronic registrations and releases;

3. Client and Lender Liaison:



- Communicate effectively with clients, other law offices, and lenders;

- Manage funding requisitions and resolve issues;

- Prepare client and bank reports;

4. Financial Management:



- Utilize UNITY and Cosmolex for account preparation and trust ledgers;

- Handle post-closing adjustments and readjustments;

5. File Preparation and Management:



- Prepare files for client sign-ups (purchases, sales, refinances);

- Manage property tax and utility matters;

- Organize courier deliveries and cheque pickups;

Qualifications and Skills:



- Proven track record of 3-5+ years in residential real estate and private mortgage transactions;

- Proficiency in UNITY and Cosmolex software;

- Typing speed of 50+ WPM;

- Strong initiative and attention to detail;

- Excellent organizational and time management skills;

- Superior English language skills (written and verbal);

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;

- Adapt at multitasking and meeting tight deadlines;

- Problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure;

- In-depth understanding of real estate transaction processes;

We are a small but vey active boutique firm providing clients with downtown levels of knowledge and service at lower than downtown rates. We are also acting as family office for some of our clients. Main areas of practice are Corporate/Commercial and Real Estate, but we also provide Immigration and Tax Planning services.

Our client base ranges from regular residential closings clients up to large corporations (mainly in the real estate development and IT businesses) and high net worth individuals.

Unlike downtown legal environments, we avoid in house politics and are very supportive of each other whenever possible. We are 5 lawyers and 6 support stuff. The partners were downtown trained at large firms.

Our goals are to add an exceptional individual lawyer to the team in 2025 and add at least 1 more clerk in 2025. We are open to employment or to a non-equity partner to start. We would welcome an individual with some book of clients but really don't require it - it's the brand name of the individual that matters more. We expect to hire 1 more exceptional lawyer and another clerk in 2026.

We speak English, Russian, Ukrainian, Hebrew and French. Any additional languages are always welcomed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
