Job Summary:

The Reagent Formulation Technician will be involved in the day-to-day reagent production according to standard operating procedures. The Reagents Formulation Technician will be part of NPI core teams working closely with the Reagents Product Development team, the Quality Control team, and the Quality Assurance team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day reagent production; vialing, labeling, and assembly of kits
  • Preparation and handling of the lipid and polymer stock solutions within a biosafety cabinet (BSC) according to SOP
  • Provide oversight of the reagent manufacturing lab to ensure all equipment and supplies are maintained
  • Document all production activities
  • Assist in the improvement and revision of reagent manufacturing SOPs and forms
  • Assist with troubleshooting manufactured reagents
  • Occasional inventory counts/reconciliation of reagent products
  • Occasional assistance with reagent packaging (training will be provided)
  • Participate in new product introductions (NPI) projects, including technical documentation, SOP drafting and review, raw materials sourcing, BOM updates, production preparation, and pilot runs
  • Assist with instruments assembly and support as needed
Qualifications and Experience:
  • A minimum 2 year associate degree or college diploma in a scientific field or equivalent experience
  • At least 1 year experience in a laboratory environment
  • Previous experience in the life sciences industry would be a major asset
  • Hands-on experience with basic laboratory techniques including aseptic handling, balances, compounding, pH adjustment, buffer preparation and pipetting
  • Practical understanding of safe laboratory practices including WHIMIS
  • Proven ability to apply critical and analytical thinking
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) both in one-on-one and in a group setting
