Director - Administrative Services
Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Complementary and Compassionate Services, the role of the Student Support Professional is to prevent, promote, detect, and intervene in the psychosocial needs of students. The Student Support Professional will work closely with the Regional and Local Student Counsellors, and school staff, in an aim to support the students in their personal, social and emotional development.
FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES :
Meet with students individually and in groups to assess emotional and mental wellness
Respond to students at risk in the socio-affective domain and plan interventions with student counsellors
Work in conjunction with school staff to plan and deliver early prevention activities using a trauma informed lens that will aid the student's, social, emotional and mental well-being
Prepare monthly reports and document interventions related to specific students in a confidential file
Provide ongoing mentoring with collaboration of student counsellors
Develop effective liaisons with local community organizations
In crisis situations in the school and/or community, activate and assist with the KI crisis response protocol
Involve parents or guardians in activities, programs and interventions where possible
Consult with teachers on appropriate techniques and strategies of a therapeutic classroom
Any other related duties as requested by the immediate supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS :
First level University Degree in a relevant specialization notably, psychoeducation, social work, youth work, etc.
The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.
REQUIREMENTS :
Fluency in 2 of the 3 languages of the board (Inuktitut, English and French)
2 years of relevant experience
Experience in youth centres, youth detention centres, or detoxification centres is considered as an asset
Any working experience in a northern or remote area or in an intercultural environment is considered as an asset
Member of the 'Ordre des psychologues du Quebec' or 'Ordre professionnel des travailleurs sociaux du Quebec' is considered as an asset
DEC in special care counselling (asset).
WORKING HOURS :
35 hours per week from Monday to Friday.
CLASSIFICATION/ SALARY/ BENEFITS :
In accordance with the SPPENOM collective agreement for professionals. This position belongs to job category 2106: from $48,689 to $83,462 annually depending on qualification and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
