The React Developer will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for front-end development, taking the lead on projects that involve moving an existing platform from Django to React and JavaScript. This role requires someone who can take high-level ideas and execute them effectively while collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The position is contract-based and project-dependent, with work hours ranging from 5 to 40+ hours per week. Flexibility is required, as some weeks may be light while others are full capacity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The key job functions are:

• Develop and maintain scalable React components and front-end architecture.
• Collaborate with back-end developers to integrate APIs and ensure seamless functionality.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear communication for non-technical team members.
• Adapt quickly to shifting project requirements and timelines.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced developers.
• Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and optimization of front-end performance.
• Take ownership of tasks from concept through deployment with minimal supervision.

Education:

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent professional experience demonstrating strong front-end development skills will also be considered.

Qualifications:

• Proven expertise in React and JavaScript development.
• Strong understanding of front-end development frameworks, libraries, and best practices.
• Experience with modern web technologies and responsive design.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience with React development, with 5-10 years preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading projects and serving as a React subject matter expert.
• Experience migrating or modernizing platforms using React and JavaScript.

Skills:

• Proficient in React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and associated front-end technologies.
• Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing project needs.
• Ability to take abstract ideas and implement them efficiently into functional code.
• Comfortable working in an agile, project-driven environment.
• Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Base Salary:

• The compensation reflects the contractor's expertise and contribution to the success of high-priority projects. Full benefits may vary depending on contract terms.

Work Hours:

• Flexible depending on project needs.

Remote Work:

• This position is remote, however ideal candidate will be within Alberta in order to facilitate in-person meetings as needed.
