About Reaching Home:
AHANS is also the Community Entity for the Government of Canada's Reaching Home program. Through this program, AHANS is a leader in the community working to find and implement impactful solutions aimed at reducing homelessness in our province. As a community led program, AHANS works with volunteer advisory boards to identify and fund solutions to reduce chronic homelessness. AHANS administers both the Designated Community Stream for Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) as well as a Rural & Remote Stream that serves rural parts of Nova Scotia (outside HRM and CBRM).
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Reaching Home Coordinator to join our dedicated team. This role supports the effective delivery of the federal Reaching Home program and plays an essential part in ensuring strong partnerships, accurate reporting, and seamless program administration.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Team Lead, Reaching Home, the Reaching Home Coordinator supports a wide scope of work related to the administration, monitoring, and reporting of Reaching Home-funded projects. This role is ideal for someone who is collaborative, organized, and passionate about strengthening housing outcomes within Nova Scotia communities.
Key Responsibilities
Program Administration & Project Coordination
Administer all Reaching Home-funded projects across both rural and designated communities, ensuring accurate preparation of contribution agreements and contract documents.
Conduct activity monitoring through required documentation and in-person site visits.
Track and monitor contract compliance, ensuring projects remain aligned with Reaching Home guidelines and deliverables.
Financial Monitoring & Compliance
Support the Reaching Home Finance Coordinator by reviewing project financials and verifying adherence to contractually approved budgets.
Assist in identifying variances or compliance gaps and support appropriate follow-up actions.
Reporting & Data Management
Assist the Team Lead with timely completion of required reporting, including RROL, CHR, and additional program or funder-driven reports.
Maintain organized program files, documentation, and tracking tools to support audit readiness and program transparency.
Call for Proposals (CFP) Support
Support the coordination and delivery of all Calls for Proposals related to Reaching Home.
Assist with communications, receiving and organizing submissions, preparing summarization tables, conducting initial reviews, and supporting evaluation processes.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
:
Post-secondary education in Social Sciences, Public Administration, Community Development, Business Administration, or a related field OR equivalent relevant experience.
Experience in program coordination, contract administration, community services, non-profit work, or related fields.
Strong administrative and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital documentation systems.
Preferred Assets
Experience working within homelessness, housing, or community-based programs.
Knowledge of the federal Reaching Home program and/or similar funding streams.
Experience conducting community outreach, site visits, or monitoring activities.
Understanding of budget tracking, project financials, or contribution agreements.
Data-reporting experience; familiarity with HIFIS or other housing sector data systems.
