Overview Our team is rapidly growing and we are currently seeking a Research & Development Engineer to assist with developing and sustaining Baylis Med Tech\xe2\x80\x99s portfolio of exciting and innovative products. This role focuses on the conception and development of novel devices for minimally invasive procedures, including procedures in interventional radiology and vascular interventions. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with other cross-functional team members and dovetail into all the different elements of taking a product from concept through all the design phases to commercialization. The candidate will also get exposure to sustaining activities that arise on our commercial lines, giving the candidate a wide array of experience and opportunities to grow in their career. Additionally, the candidate will have an opportunity to work with the appropriate government bodies to obtain regulatory approval and to issue patents in conjunction with the IP department.   • Work on all elements of the Research & Development of novel minimally invasive devices, from concept generation through to commercialization.
  • Implement cutting-edge technologies to provide the optimum design solution for products.
  • Design of concepts and prototypes in advance of selecting the most promising solution to take into Design Freeze.
  • Develop plans and conduct testing for design verification and validation.
  • Support the development of intellectual property within the company.
  • Support Research and Development sustaining activities as they arise on commercial production lines.
  • Track deliverables from internal and external teams against product design change requirements.

What you bring to the team:
  • Successful completion of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Engineering degree (or equivalent) required (Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering prefered)
  • 1-2 years of related experience in engineering
  • Experience working in medical devices with focus on Research and Development is an asset
  • Experience with rapid design iteration and making design recommendations
  • Strong hypothesis-driven experimental design and statistical analysis skills
  • Strong SolidWorks skills
  • Demonstrated experience in creative engineering design
  • Experience in developing test set-ups that replicate clinical scenarios and anatomies an asset
  • Knowledge of design requirements as per 21 CFR 820 and ISO 13485 is an asset
  • Experience with drafting and maintaining DHF and DMR documentation is an asset
  • Ability to independently develop and adapt work plans based on vague or changing project goals
  • Ability to work independently and within a diverse team of engineers, professional staff, and production staff
  • Superior communication skills (verbal/written) and demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong interest in biomedical technology
  • Dynamic, flexible approach to work with a results-oriented attitude
