JOB SUMMARY



Reporting to the Director of Product Engineering, as R&D Director you play a key role as a strategic technical advisor. You ensure that every product developed is functional, manufacturable, optimized and innovative. You supervise a team of engineers and technicians, guide decisions and validate the technical feasibility of projects. You seek to improve methods, products and processes to ensure the achievement of the company's engineering objectives for all of Metaltech-Omega's product lines.

RESPONSIBILITIES



Technical leadership and team management



Supervise a multidisciplinary team (engineers and technicians) and foster their professional development. Prioritize development projects by ensuring their alignment with management's expectations, while ensuring their success within deadlines, resources, budget and technical objectives. Guide technical orientations and design choices by making informed decisions.

Technical development, innovation and customized solutions



Drive innovation: Propose innovative ideas and continuously improve products, processes and development tools, integrating feedback from the field and staying abreast of technological developments and market trends. Contribute actively to the design of new products, including 3D modeling (SolidWorks), choice of materials, technical validation and prototype supervision. Develop customized solutions adapted to customer needs, including the preparation of technical and economic quotes. Take charge of certain strategic or complex projects, from design to production. Maintain up-to-date technical documentation and ensure traceability of engineering decisions.

Communication and coordination



Work closely with other departments and external partners to ensure technical, commercial and operational alignment of projects. Present project progress to the Director of Product Engineering and contribute to strategic planning.

REQUIREMENTS, QUALITIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED



Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering; Member of the Ordre des ingenieurs du Quebec (OIQ); Spoken and written languages (advanced level): French and English;

Experiment:



Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering team management; Minimum 10 years in product development or technical project management; Significant product design experience in sheet metal, steel and aluminum. Knowledge of the retail industry is an asset.

Technical and strategic skills



Analytical and business acumen with the ability to make sound technical decisions and optimize costs. Ability to provide technical guidance to an engineering team. Organizational skills, thoroughness and attention to detail. Ability to manage priorities, adapt to change, and deliver results on time.

Leadership and interpersonal skills



Mobilizing leadership: ability to delegate, take charge and optimize resources to position the team for success. Autonomy, team spirit and sense of responsibility. Excellent communication skills and ability to build long-lasting relationships of trust. Curious, creative and innovative mind, with a strong ability to adapt and learn.

Computer knowledge



Proficiency in SolidWorks or Catia computer-aided design software. Knowledge of the Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
